NETHERLANDS UPDATE: ENFORCEMENT AGENDA OF THE DUTCH DPA FOR 2017

Netherlands: the Data Privacy Authority set the focusses for this 2017.

M&A: since these operations generate lots and lots of data. Post-merger integration phase and press conference are likely to be under the spotlight.

FinTech: this sector is on the rise in the Netherlands and this may require (A) an additional Privacy authority for this industry, as well as (B) more collaboration with further authorities to make sure data is sufficiently exchanged.

Customer portals: Access- and Identity Management features must be error-proof.

Data profiling: the Triple T –> transparency, transparency and again more transparency. People need to be informed on why their data are being exchanged and why.

Special personal data: some categories may never be allowed to be handled.
